The project

The goal is to accomplish a transatlantic crossing by a fully autonomous sailing boat

The project Åland Sailing Robots was initiated by Åland University of Applied Sciences in January 2013.

Why?
Robotic sailing has the potential to become a cost efficient and environmentally friendly alternative for marine research, surveillance and certain transports.
Åland UAS is committed to continuously be world leading educational provider in seafaring, shipping, marine and electrical engineering, computer technology as well as in business administration. The spin off from the project provides knowledge and competencies to our business partners as well as to our students in all of our study programs.

Who is involved?
The project is open for everybody. International networking is promoted in order to provide students with international experiences and contacts, especially with our students from partner universities around Europe. New members are always welcome; just contact us to get involved! You don’t need to be in a particular program to join, we will do our best to teach you the skills you need in order to contribute.
